Course Overview:
This comprehensive program consists of 16 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of live-fire training, meeting or surpassing the standards set by New York State for Concealed Carry Permit applications. Renewal of licenses in New York City or Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk counties necessitates completion of this training. Any updates to the curriculum will be provided to enrolled students at no extra cost. As of September 1, 2022, completion of a firearm safety training course is mandatory for obtaining a concealed carry license.
Completion Requirements:
To successfully pass the course, attendees must achieve a minimum of 80% on the written examination and demonstrate minimum proficiency in live-fire exercises at the range. Failure to pass these assessments results in non-issuance of a completion certificate. Refunds are not available within 7 days of the course start date. Non-attendance or failure to complete all course requirements also results in non-issuance of a certificate.
Course Structure:
- Weekend/Weekday Class: Conducted over 2 consecutive days.- Flexable Scheduling: Participants have the flexibility to choose non-consecutive days within a 30-day period for Parts A and B. Both parts must be completed within this timeframe. Reservations for both days are required simultaneously. - Part A: Classroom session only; firearms are not required. - Part B: Combines classroom instruction, practical skills, live-fire exercises, and range assessment. Participants owning firearms should bring them along with protective gear and ammunition.
Additional Course Details:
- **Live Fire**: Utilizes simunitions, UTM, or live rounds based on permit status.- **Written Exam**: Requires a minimum score of 80%, covering classroom material.- **Range Assessment**: Evaluates firearm handling and proficiency.- **Certificate**: Issued upon completion of both Part A and Part B, fulfilling the required training hours for applying or renewing a NYS pistol permit.
*Note for New Permit Holders*: Applicants without an existing NYS permit may incur an additional $200 range fee for non-lethal training ammunition, due on the first day of class.

- Ammunition is strictly prohibited in the classroom.- Live-fire exercises occur at the Nassau County Pistol Range, with access to other ranges in Suffolk and Westchester Counties.

**Cancellation/Change Policy**
Full payment is required upon reservation. Cancellations made with at least 7 days' notice qualify for a full refund. Rescheduling is permitted once within 72 hours of reservation. Additional rescheduling incurs a $125 fee. Please register when fully prepared to attend.
